Buenos Aires produces the gelato style ice
cream know in Argentina as “helado”, a traditional ice cream made by
immigrant Italian ice cream makers for over 100 years. Gelato is a
frozen dessert composed mainly of whole fluid milk, cream, sugar and
egg yolks.
Various high quality ingredients such as natural vanilla extract and
chocolate among others, are carefully blended to achieve the delicious
taste and smooth texture of the final product. Compared with ice
cream, gelato has up to 80% less air which results in a denser,
creamier, richer product.
Gelato also has up to 40% less fat content. Since fat content
masks flavor , Gelato has more intense flavor than ice cream.
Sorbets are a variation of the basic Gelato where the dairy
components have been replaced with water. Sorbets are made mainly with
choice fruit and cane sugar. |
